Giggs issues rallying call
Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has warned his team’s rivals that the Premier League champions are ready to produce a strong second half to the season, and he feels his side are ready to put together a good run of form.
The Old Trafford outfit are known for upping their game in the second half of the season under Sir Alex Ferguson, with a determination to win tournaments in the business end of the campaign often shining through.
The Red Devils’ are currently equal with cross-town rivals Manchester City at the top of the English top flight on 45 points, and the Welsh midfielder feels the champions are ready to strike.
“The experience the manager, players and coaching staff have of what’s required in the second half of the season, as well as the overall hunger and desire to win competitions, will help us,” Giggs told Mirror Football.
“Big players can’t wait for big games. Towards the end of the season, the games just get bigger.
“For me, you want to be involved in big games and going for the title. That’s why you become a footballer.
“It’s been a strong start from us. Obviously City have got off to a better start but we’re pleased with where we are in the table.
“We’ll just look to kick on as we always do in the second half of the season and hopefully we’ll have a bit more luck with injuries and have a strong run after Christmas,” he concluded.
