Andre Villas-Boas to keep the pressure on
Chelsea boss Andre Villas Boas has stated that he is happy to have beaten Everton at the weekend, especially as it closes the gap between themselves and Manchester United.
As the Premier League champions dropped points at Anfield in a 1-1 draw, the Stamford Bridge side beat Everton 3-1 to move within a point of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
With Manchester City moving to the top of the pile after their demolition of Aston Villa, the race for the title is heating up.
The Manchester clubs go head-to-head next Sunday, and the Portuguese coach has stated his side must beat QPR to keep pressure on the pacesetters.
“It’s important for us to get three points, particularly on a day where two title contenders play against each other,” he told The Telegraph.
“Man United got an important point at Anfield but at least it makes us recover some points and get closer to second position.”
Daniel Sturridge, John Terry and Ramires all scored in The Blues’ victory over David Moyes’ men, maintaining a 100 per cent home record for the London outfit.
Despite this, the former Porto trainer feels it is his side’s duty to win at Stamford Bridge.
“We have done nothing else than our responsibilities in winning the games that we have won at home. We have not done anything special.
“We just have to continue to win until we find a position of comfort at the top of the Premier League, because that’s what we want,” he concluded.
